After over 25 years of making harps and Kinder Lyres, etc and providing excellent service to Waldorf Schools, families, harpists, and harp therapists, etc., Raphael Weisman retired and has handed over the manufacture and management of the company to Terry and Michael Chastain
Terry and Michael Chastain, the new managers, are happy to continue the tradition of quality hand made instruments for healing and for the family. They offer Kinder Lyres, Little Minstrels and Therapy/Economy model harps. We occasionally also have some Kinder Lyre seconds available as kits or finished Lyres. Call for availability. Specials for the Holidays: Brand new Maple Ariel Recorders. Years ago Harps of Lorien used to import wooden recorders from the Zamir Recorder Company in Israel. They no longer are in business but Raphael has a few Maple Soprano 2 piece recorders for $40 each and a few Maple Tenor Recorders with lower C Brass key for $150 each. It is in this phase that the beauty and grain of the wood comes alive and finds its voice; We inscribe them with mantras and prayers for peace.

Harps of Lorien is a small cottage industry located in the foothills of the Sangre de Cristo mountains of Northern New Mexico. The magnificent sunsets, the wooded mountain slopes, and the natural beauty of the environment form an inspiring, creative backdrop for the making of harps and other musical instruments, and a vision of peace and community. The name Lorien was inspired by J.R.R. Tolkien's Lord of the Rings, and is the home of the elves.
The founder of Harps of Lorien, Inc, Raphael Weisman somewhat resembles an Elf himself. A lover of trees, he trained as a master luthier (instrument maker) in London where he built lutes, vihuelas, orpharions, bandoras and various other strange shaped Renaissance and Baroque fretted instruments. He is training to be a therapeutic harp practitioner and is a practitioner of the HeartThread, a system of healing that aids in the release of conditioned patterns from the body and the unconscious. He also is a co- founder of Healing the Scars, an organization that trains people around the world in the use of HeartThread and other techniques for healing the imprints from war, trauma and violence.
